On my side table

The  other day I was talking on phone to my  friend  Gianluca, who  was   watching  the   football  match  Manchester city vs  United,  which  for   him is  a big  deal  as  he  is a  Football  agent ,  and  he  was   sure   I  knew    all  about   it .....   but   I  had  to  explaine   him  that   the only paper I do  read  on  a  regular  base   is WWD, and  that   on  my  side  table I  have as  bible  D.V. by  Diane   Vreeland  .

She  is  my  icon,  I  think  that  I  did  read  her  book  over  and   over ,  I  like  her  not  just  for   fashion   glamour  but  for   her personality,   for   the   courage    to  say   the  things she   thought  in  a   English  and   conservative   society .
I  did    read  many  time   the  part  when   at  the   start   of   second  world  war  ,  she   did   not  leave  Paris   together  with  her  family   to  go  back  to  the  U.S.  , but   she  decided  to  stay   there   up  to  the  last  moment because   she   did  not   know  once  left when  she   could   see  Chanel   again  !!!
Now  is   time  of   globalization,  in  every   big  city   there   is  a   big  Chanel ,  Vuitton....   shop ,   shops   are  open   7  days  a  week ,  Net-a-Porter,  Mytheresa ... Matches  ,  make posssible   to  buy  big   brands    without  leaving  the   house  sometime  I   feel  that   making  all   so   easy make  it  a  bit less  desirable  .
Here   some  of  her   Diane    quotes :

Elegance is innate. It has nothing to do with being welldressed. Elegance is refusal.

The only real elegance is in the mind; if you've got that, the rest really comes from it.

Diane Vreeland
The last   exhibition  at  the  Met   for  some  reason  made   me   think  of   D.V. a   lot , there   is  a  movie  Funny Face   with  Audrey Hepburn   which   is inspired   to  Diane  ,   The   Devil's wear  Prada  was  nothing  new   as   said    yesterday  and   today   .     Diane   and now  Anna   Wintour   for    which   I  have  a  greatest  respect  and  admiration  .
Now   enjoy  a  scene  of  the  movie !!!

THINK PINK  Lyricshttp://srv.clickfuse.com/showads/track/imp.php?av=true&cid=29971407&aid=39380454&aids=&caph=&cids=&artist=&song=Think+Pink%21&uri=http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/funnyface/thinkpink.htm&t=1328111001

Think pink! think pink! when you shop for summer clothes.
Think pink! think pink! if you want that quel-que chose.
Red is dead, blue is through,
Green's obscene, brown's taboo.
And there is not the slightest excuse for plum or puce
—or chartreuse.
Think pink! forget that
Dior says black and rust.
Think pink! who cares if the new look has no bust.
Now, I wouldn't presume to tell a woman
what a woman oughtta think,
But tell her if she's gotta think: think pink—!
—for bags! pink for shoes!
Razzle, dazzle and spread the news!
And pink's for the lady with joie de vive!
Pinks for all the family.
Try pink shampoo.
Pink toothpaste too.
Play in pink, all day in pink,
Pretty gayin pink.
Drive in pink, come alive in pink,
Have a dive in pink.
Go out dancing but just remember one thing:
You can get a little wink
If you got a little pink
In your swing.

MEN [painters, with NYC accents]
Think pink! think pink, it's the latest word, you know.
Think pink! think pink and you're Michelangelo.

WOMEN.
Feels so gay, feels so bright.
Makes you day, makes you night.
Pink is now the colour to which
you gotta switch!

MEN.
(Do what you gotta switch!)

WOMEN.
Every stitch!

MEN.
(Every stitch you switch!)

MAGGIE.
Think pink! think pink on the long, long road ahead.

WOMEN & MEN.
On the road, (& MAGGIE) think pink!

MAGGIE.
...think pink and the world is rosey-red

WOMEN & MEN.
(Everything's rosey.)

MAGGIE.
Everything on the great horizon,
Everything that you can think—
and that includes the kitchen sink,
Think pink!

WOMEN & MEN.
Think pink, think pink
Think pink, think pink
Think pink, think pink!

Ciao
